Sunday Supposings

Supposing we came to church on Sunday and we polarized on each side of the church according to our political beliefs. Would God bless one side and condemn the other? I think not. If God could come down on one side or the other, I think he would choose neither. Both sides have merit and both sides think they are right. But both sides are wrong..as wrong as they are right. It all comes down to what issue seems most important, for that is how we choose sides. What we all have to remember in this run up to an explosive and historic election, is that whoever wins will need all the grace and help God can provide. All the support we can give. All the prayers we can offer. May the people of God be the winners in this contest. By His grace we will survive. But one thing is certain, no one side is right and no one side is wrong. It is what has kept America strong for over 200 years.

Labor Day?

I don't know why I always feel compelled to work on labor day. I know I misunderstand the thought behind the day, but I feel guilty if I am idle on that day. So, I am going to be working, but doing work I enjoy. I have discovered that the only way I get to use some of the wonderful designs I own for the embroidery machine is when I make a quilt of designs and use them for the window decoration. What that means is that when I am dead...the girls will have a quilt for every season, holiday and event of the year. This fall I am doing a quilt of fall things on a tangerine fabric. That all happened because I bought a piece of fabric that is stripes of the most gorgeous fall colors. So, I am spending Sat and Mon doing my fun work. Hope everyone else has fun stuff to do this weekend and you enjoy the non labor day.

Election Blues

This is a scary thing. I have never been involved in blogs, but they seem interesting and a good way to communicate with the world outside your county lines.
I was a confirmed Hillary supporter and when that failed, I decided I would align myself with Obama. Now this new development with the naming of a woman as vp for McCain and I find myself incensed!!! How dare they play on the work done by an intelligent woman like Hillary Clinton and pretend that this young thing has earned the right to be respected enough to be on the republican ticket. And I was actually a Republican...an old fashioned one...one that believed in the Republican party of the 50's. But now, I find myself defending my political convictions with my Christian friends. I don't know how they reconcile their faith and politics. God said we must care for the earth and we have done nothing less than squander it for our own pleasures. We are told to care for those less fortunate than ourselves, yet the downtrodden of the world continue to live in squallor and tribulation.
Just as long as people let the Spirit work in their lives and direct their votes...perhaps God will continue to bless us with the life we are accustomed to living.
